Lessons Not Mistakes!

April 27, 2007

After a long talk with my mentor, I decided to be more pro-active and do whatever it takes to start generating sales for my ebook. I  created a web page with a special offer for my opt in list and friends on myspace and uploaded it to my hosting site. I clicked the link and it did not work. I went into my back office and saw I created a second public html file. I then checked and r-checked to make sure that I was deleting the incorrect file. I hit the delete button and suddenly felt a sick feeling come over me. I knew immediately I had deleted everything.

Here I am the one who talks empowerment and boy did I start to beat myself up over this mistake or error.  I emailed my mentor and his reply lightened me up. I knew then why I had him and his partner as my mentors.  Earlier today they coached me and I was so excited to move forward. They identified certain strengths along with some things I need to improve. Fortunately all was not lost.

My lesson in all of this. I knew I did something and I immediately contacted the person to let them know.  I was empowered by their response and I made a list of things I learned from this incident.  Right after the email response from my mentor, I began to change my self talk. I accepted this as a learning experience rather than a mistake.  For many of you, this may sound like a logical scenario. Let me tell you, there are people out there who would have gone ballistic over this.  Everyone makes mistakes, that is why they put erasers on pencils. It is only a lesson and not the end of the world.  I wish you an empowered day. Dr. Mike
